Deze “Frans-Vlaamse” natuurhoorn van omstreeks 1830 is een doorontwikkeling van Franse modellen, zoals gebouwd door de Parijse ateliers van Courtois of Raoux uit de decennia ervoor. De brede bekerhals maakt het mogelijk om gestopte noten bijzonder egaal te laten klinken, en het dikkere metaal zorgt voor een verbeterde projectie.

Ik speelde een aantal projecten met vroeg-romantisch repertoire op dit instrument, o.a. Beethoven 3 met les Musiciens du Louvre, Schumann met l’Orchestre des Champs Elysées, Ravel (o.a. Pavane) met Anima Eterna, en diverse recitals.

This “French-Flemish” natural horn from around 1830 is a developped version of the cor d’orchestre as built in the Parisian workshops of the time (M.A. Raoux, Courtois). The large bell flare increases the possibility of making stopped notes sound even, the thick brass used for the bell increases the projection of sound.

This horn was used for projects including romantic repertoire, as Beethoven 3 with les Musiciens du Louvre, Ravel (e.g. Pavane) with Anima Eterna, Schumann with l’orchestre des Champs Elysées and several recitals.
